Global Ford executives back Falcon - for now

Ford remains committed to the production and sale of the Aussie-built Falcon despite sales falling below 20,000 for the first time in modern history in 2011.

However, senior Ford executives continue to hint that Falcon will be absorbed into a global large car strategy this decade.

Asked if the Falcon was sustainable at its current sales rate, Ford's president Asia Pacific and Africa Joe Hinrichs said: "At the current investment cycle that we are in the answer to that is yes."

He then added: "But not forever and we will have more to say on that over time."

It is expected that in 2016 or 2017 the Falcon and its Territory SUV spin-off will merge with the US Taurus/Explorer, swapping from rear to front drive an...

First drive: Ford Falcon four-cylinder

Ford’s new EcoBoost Falcon may have two fewer cylinders than its six-cylinder brethren, but it’s lacking nothing in performance.

For a while there, it looked like Queensland would never win a Sheffield Shield. But a few years ago, that changed.

The smart money also suggested that our Stateside friends would never elect an Afro-American to the office of president. Wrong again.

And for my part, I would have bet real money that I’d never be sitting in the driver’s seat of a four-cylinder Ford Falcon. And yet, here I am.
Never say never, it seems.

Australian Falcons and big capacity six-cylinder engines go together like beer and eskies. Always have.

Outage

Just a quick note to advise that Fordmods was offline for a few hours this morning while some back end changes were made.

No doubt you all occupied yourself DiscoFrank style during the outage and didn't suffer too much.
